YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING WHERE THE SAVANNAH COMES IN AT... It's my middle name! My mom fell in love with Savannah, Georgia, on a trip about 28 years ago and then I came along! Among a lot of things, my love for all things adventurous and spontaneous comes from my momma! I recall many, many weekends she would whisk me and my brother and sister away on day trips to places close by and we would have a blast and then return home exhausted late in the night. My love for photography started a long time ago. My family have always commented on how I always had a camera in my hand, even when I was a small child.
Personally, my first memory of photography was in middle school. I grew up on a farm in northeast Tennessee and I remember many hot, summer afternoons with my film camera taking photos of the hayfields or my kittens, then anxiously begging to go to Wal-Mart to get the film developed. Looking back now, I can realize that that's when my love for not only photography bloomed, but capturing those fleeting moments of my childhood helped me realize that I loved living in the moment and being able to preserve it in time, too.

I've often thought about "why" I wanted to be a photographer, and honestly - the answer comes down to simply wanting to relive my best memories. The warm glow captured in the photos of the summer afternoons of my childhood still brings me right back to those hay fields, laughing and playing without a care in the world with my siblings. Of course, being young and carefree, we aren't really aware of how fleeting moments like these are. As I got older, the more moments I captured, even if it seemed silly at the time. Now, I have those memories to hang onto even though we have lost people dear to us.
Being able to capture moments like those - the fleeting, in-between moments where you think nothing will be happening but so much actually does - is why I choose to be a photographer. The people you surround yourself with at your wedding are the people that matter most to you, and while it might not seem like it in the thick of things - the moments you share with them on your wedding day will be so very important later on. So while I will capture the important and wanted things like your gorgeous details, clothes, and beautifully set up spaces, I will also capture the in-between moments - the look of happiness and pride on your mom's face as she's zipping up your dress, your family watching tearfully from the aisle as you say your vows to your life partner, your crazy uncle getting his groove on while you are busy mingling at your reception.
